UPDATE // Where have I been?

Hello there!

Well, it happens to the best of us. I got super busy towards the end of 2017. Here we are, almost April and I have yet to post anything. At the end of 2017 I had the honor to document several important events: Weddings, families, communities, and political movements. I’ve been behind my camera A LOT and in front of my computer very little. So I thought I’d share the latest news!

I’ve been working on a personal project very close to my heart. It’s a documentary called 30 at Thirty. On November 14th I turned 30.  Like most of us I was dreading the birthday but then it happened and I felt amazing! I feel like I’m the greatest version of me. I had also been brain storming ideas for a personal photo project to work on and at that moment it all came to be. So, I’ve given myself 1 year to interview and photograph 30 women at the age of 30. I’ve decided to keep it just inside the US, but I want to make sure I interview women from all over our country. To date I’ve been to: CA,DC,DE,FL,HI,IL,MO,OR and I’m trying to plan a road trip to TEXAS maybe in the Summer.

You can follow my journey on IG: @30atthirty or on FB: https://www.facebook.com/30atthirty/

Each subject gets to choose where she is photographed. The interview consists of the same 15 questions (I’ll get into that later). But I will share this- I’m learning thru this process that as a whole this generation is working hard to be our best selves, (no) not all of us are drowning in  student debt, almost all of us want a family, and we all suffer from anxiety.

Here’s 18 portraits from the series so far:

Are you 30? Do you identify as female? If you answered YES to both of those questions and live in the US please contact me: erika@erikanizborski.com , I’d LOVE to interview you.

Stay tuned for more!

River Farm Wedding // an intimate gathering

Looking back over the past few months of weddings I remember small little moments of each one that stand out and make each day individual and different. Both big and small, elaborate and simple. Each day holds their own special moments that set them apart. Back in the beginning of the Summer I documented Leslie and Greg’s wedding day.  It was an intimate gathering but there was no shortage of details. They had put the wedding day festivities together in just 1 month, and if I didn’t tell you that I bet you wouldn’t have ever guessed. A pair of wanderlusts Leslie and Greg had their Volkswagen Van decorated for the occasion and a replica in cookie and cake topper form which really tied everything together. The love the two of them have for each other radiated thru every moment of the day and it was pure joy to photograph.

Here are some highlights…

Baltimore Wedding at AVAM // is it fall yet?

Hello! WOW, so the past 6 months have been a whirlwind and, I can not believe I haven’t posted anything. (I’ve barely had time to breath!) I’m picking things up right where I left off. It might be August but a fall chill is in the air and I think that TODAY is a great day to share this fall wedding from last year. M&M got hitched at the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore on a WARM November day.  The foliage was peak of the peak and the whole event was down right stunning! Here are some of my most favorite moments from the day….

The BEST Fried Chicken in DC on 4 Wheels!

Hey there, as the busy wedding season comes to an end for 2016 I thought I would go a different route with this post and share something a bit different with you all. This is very timely given the events that have happened in our country this week.

Recently I had the amazing opportunity to photograph a DC based culinary artist named Mike.  Mike owns a string of food trucks; DC Ballers (Falafel) , Rollin’ Pizza, and Roaming Rooster.  Mike is a Ethiopian- Canadian that came to the US in the mid 90’s to live closer to his family and pursue his dream of starting a food truck empire! Cooking is Mike’s passion, he uses fresh ingredients, and perfected recipes. Oh, and his chicken is free-range and hormone free!

Today, he has one of DC’s most successful food trucks, and unarguably THE BEST fried chicken I’ve ever had!

Here is a look at his business and the incredible people he has on his team…

The next time you find yourself in downtown DC around lunchtime look out for one of Mike’s trucks!

Summer is over!

As we embark on the last true weekend of Summer I thought it would be appropriate to share some highlights from the coolest staff picnic I’ve ever seen! Summer is over! Let’s relive that July heat wave, here are some moments from the staff Picnic at George Washington’s Mount Vernon.  Sweets and treats provided by Rebel’s Kitchen , countless delicious food trucks, and a bouncy house obstacle course.  What fun!

Many of us will head out to a BBQ or Picnic this weekend, what’s your favorite way to end Summer?

Engagement session // at Yards Park with beagle in tow!

Well, it’s been a few weeks since my last post.  We need to catch up! My super busy season is underway and off to a great start.

Today I am delighted to share a really fun engagement photo session from about a month ago.  On an early Sunday morning Holly and Michael, and their adorable little Beagle named Sprocket met up with me at The Yards Park next to the Nationals Baseball stadium (They are huge fans!).  We walked the dock, fetched sticks, and had a wonderful time! Here’s a peek…

A wild Trip out WEST // Recap

Hey There!

In mid March I had a photoshoot out in Los Angeles.  The trip lined up with my Husband and I’s first year wedding anniversary. So we made a big trip out of it.  I flew out to LA for my shoot and then we both met up the next weekend in Vegas! Here is a recap of our travels…

I flew into LA on March 9th to cover the Natural Products Expo West in Anaheim, CA.  Here is one of my favorite shots from the conference.

I had a free day to go explore and took my friends advice and spent the day in Long Beach.  Of course it rained all day, so I explored the Aquarium of the Pacific..

Around 6pm the rain cleared and a there was a beautiful sunset, I drove to the beach where I found this interesting car… or golf cart? Once I walked onto the beach I saw a few kite surfers, I had never seen kite surfing in real life, I was mezmorized!

The next day I flew to Las Vegas where I met Stephen (He flew from DC to meet me for our vacation.)

This was the only photo I took in Vegas with my real camera 🙂

After 3 nights in Vegas we rented a one way car and drove to the Hoover Damn, and on to the grand Canyon from there.

I think these girls took the day trip from vegas. You can’t really see it but there are posing with their selfie stick, on the edge of the canyon…

We spent the night at the Grand Canyon on the Hualapai Reservation.  This is a view of our cabins and the guests circling around the campfire.

The next morning we watched the sunrise and then got an early start on our drive to Joshua Tree, CA. Here’s a view from the middle of the Mohave Dessert. We also hopped on historic Rt. 66 for a few miles.

Joshua Tree

We spent the night in Joshua Tree and then headed to LA the next day.  We did the Santa Monica Pier at Sunset.

It might sound like we had a busy hectic trip with all the driving and flying but it really was relaxing. I got to recharge my batteries so to speak before the busy event and wedding season begins!

What’s the best trip you’ve been on recently?
