The BEST Fried Chicken in DC on 4 Wheels!

Hey there, as the busy wedding season comes to an end for 2016 I thought I would go a different route with this post and share something a bit different with you all. This is very timely given the events that have happened in our country this week.

Recently I had the amazing opportunity to photograph a DC based culinary artist named Mike.  Mike owns a string of food trucks; DC Ballers (Falafel) , Rollin’ Pizza, and Roaming Rooster.  Mike is a Ethiopian- Canadian that came to the US in the mid 90’s to live closer to his family and pursue his dream of starting a food truck empire! Cooking is Mike’s passion, he uses fresh ingredients, and perfected recipes. Oh, and his chicken is free-range and hormone free!

Today, he has one of DC’s most successful food trucks, and unarguably THE BEST fried chicken I’ve ever had!

Here is a look at his business and the incredible people he has on his team…

The next time you find yourself in downtown DC around lunchtime look out for one of Mike’s trucks!

Summer is over!

As we embark on the last true weekend of Summer I thought it would be appropriate to share some highlights from the coolest staff picnic I’ve ever seen! Summer is over! Let’s relive that July heat wave, here are some moments from the staff Picnic at George Washington’s Mount Vernon.  Sweets and treats provided by Rebel’s Kitchen , countless delicious food trucks, and a bouncy house obstacle course.  What fun!

Many of us will head out to a BBQ or Picnic this weekend, what’s your favorite way to end Summer?

Engagement session // at Yards Park with beagle in tow!

Well, it’s been a few weeks since my last post.  We need to catch up! My super busy season is underway and off to a great start.

Today I am delighted to share a really fun engagement photo session from about a month ago.  On an early Sunday morning Holly and Michael, and their adorable little Beagle named Sprocket met up with me at The Yards Park next to the Nationals Baseball stadium (They are huge fans!).  We walked the dock, fetched sticks, and had a wonderful time! Here’s a peek…

A wild Trip out WEST // Recap

Hey There!

In mid March I had a photoshoot out in Los Angeles.  The trip lined up with my Husband and I’s first year wedding anniversary. So we made a big trip out of it.  I flew out to LA for my shoot and then we both met up the next weekend in Vegas! Here is a recap of our travels…

I flew into LA on March 9th to cover the Natural Products Expo West in Anaheim, CA.  Here is one of my favorite shots from the conference.

I had a free day to go explore and took my friends advice and spent the day in Long Beach.  Of course it rained all day, so I explored the Aquarium of the Pacific..

Around 6pm the rain cleared and a there was a beautiful sunset, I drove to the beach where I found this interesting car… or golf cart? Once I walked onto the beach I saw a few kite surfers, I had never seen kite surfing in real life, I was mezmorized!

The next day I flew to Las Vegas where I met Stephen (He flew from DC to meet me for our vacation.)

This was the only photo I took in Vegas with my real camera 🙂

After 3 nights in Vegas we rented a one way car and drove to the Hoover Damn, and on to the grand Canyon from there.

I think these girls took the day trip from vegas. You can’t really see it but there are posing with their selfie stick, on the edge of the canyon…

We spent the night at the Grand Canyon on the Hualapai Reservation.  This is a view of our cabins and the guests circling around the campfire.

The next morning we watched the sunrise and then got an early start on our drive to Joshua Tree, CA. Here’s a view from the middle of the Mohave Dessert. We also hopped on historic Rt. 66 for a few miles.

We spent the night in Joshua Tree and then headed to LA the next day.  We did the Santa Monica Pier at Sunset.

It might sound like we had a busy hectic trip with all the driving and flying but it really was relaxing. I got to recharge my batteries so to speak before the busy event and wedding season begins!

What’s the best trip you’ve been on recently?

2016 Wedding Season // Kick off!

Last Friday I kicked off my 2016 wedding season with Lili and Brian.  These two eloped in the morning and met me down by the White House after lunch for portraits.  We walked around Lafayette Park and then ventured into the Renwick Gallery.  After learning about these two and their interests I suggested a few locations and we decided that the Renwick’s current exhibitions would make the perfect backdrop.

These two both enjoy nature and the outdoors but, being early March we didn’t have too many options. Thankfully the Renwick encourages photography! We braved the crowds and came out with a nice set of portraits!

Here are a few highlights…

If you could have your portrait taken in an art gallery which one would it be?

Website Face Lift!

Happy Friday! I just wanted to post an update and let you all know that if you tab over to my portfolio, also known as my official website you will notice that some things have changed. I’ve taken some galleries down to make way for some new work.  Stay tuned and patient, this process might take a few weeks.  I’ll let you all know when it’s done. 🙂 ALSO… I’ve been saving this photo for a post and I wasn’t sure when I was going to get to use it, I can’t wait any longer…

This is a recent portrait of my cousin Eugene. Last month my family threw a surprise 80th birthday party for my Nana.  It was great to have everyone in the same room! This is Eugene pulling up to my Nana’s house in Palmetto, Fl.

We had flurries this morning here in DC, and it had me missing the Florida sun!

Have a great weekend, and stay WARM!

Sunshine in Historic Dixieland // Portraits

This time a week ago I was basking the the Florida sunshine, today I’m fighting blizzard conditions!

Here is a warm and sunny look at Katie and Evan.  Katie is a longtime friend of mine who recently hightailed it out of Maine with her boyfriend Evan in search of warmer days! They now call Lakeland, FL home. This 1960’s Spanish Hacienda is located in the heart of the Historic Dixieland neighborhood and is surrounded by green leafy palms and oaks that have been there long before anything else. They enjoy afternoons on their front patio manicuring plants and  playing the guitar and Katie’s dulcimer (which she crafted herself).  Seriously, don’t you wish you were here right now? Put your sunglasses on!

This last photo is a view of the Airstream Ranch located on i4, naturally we had to do some exploring when we saw these from the highway.

I hope this helped a little bit as cabin fever sets in on this blustery day!

Pumpkins + Mums // Wedding Sneak Peek!

In honor of Thanksgiving which is just a day away, I wanted to share this Halloween Wedding I had the pleasure to document over at The Lodge at Little Seneca Creek.  Kristen and Daniel love the outdoors, so it only made sense that they bring some nature to their BIG DAY.  Their first look was down by the creek, the pumpkin and mum lined ceremony was over looking the beautiful fall skyline, and the reception was held in front of a grand hearth with a roaring fire.  Kristen and Daniel were surrounded by family and friends on their wedding day, several of the guest traveled great distances to attend, all the way from Peru! Here is a look….
