Fall Wedding in DC // Longview Gallery

It’s 2017 and over here we have delivered all the beautiful fall weddings, we have decompressed from the holidays, and are now ready to move full speed ahead into the new year! I can not wait to share every detail that was captured over the past several months.  Let’s pick up right where we left off…

H&M got married in early October.  The day began over at the Marriott Marquis with Bridal Prep , first look, and a few wedding party portraits.  There was some on and off rain that day so we called the Uber and off we went to my back up  portrait location at the National Portrait Gallery! The Ceremony and Reception were held at Longview Gallery.  We had a break in the rain so we were able to take a few portraits in Blagden Alley. 🙂 yay!

The whole party moved next door for the after party at Lost and Found. A little rain didn’t put a damper on this wedding!

Here are some of my favorites from the day…

None of these moments would have been possible without the amazing Victoria Ruan shooting with me!

Santa Baby // Newborn session

Sometimes I am lucky enough to get asked to photograph a newborn.  These sessions can be a challenge because well, it’s a newborn and let’s be honest- They call the shots! This precious Santa Baby was patient and adorable as could be!

I’m excited to show the highlights from this session, Welcome Baby Brynn! Brynn arrived just before Thanksgiving and I got to meet her shortly after with her amazing family.

And, being that it’s the week of Christmas I thought this would be a very timely post!

Happy Holidays!

The BEST Fried Chicken in DC on 4 Wheels!

Hey there, as the busy wedding season comes to an end for 2016 I thought I would go a different route with this post and share something a bit different with you all. This is very timely given the events that have happened in our country this week.

Recently I had the amazing opportunity to photograph a DC based culinary artist named Mike.  Mike owns a string of food trucks; DC Ballers (Falafel) , Rollin’ Pizza, and Roaming Rooster.  Mike is a Ethiopian- Canadian that came to the US in the mid 90’s to live closer to his family and pursue his dream of starting a food truck empire! Cooking is Mike’s passion, he uses fresh ingredients, and perfected recipes. Oh, and his chicken is free-range and hormone free!

Today, he has one of DC’s most successful food trucks, and unarguably THE BEST fried chicken I’ve ever had!

Here is a look at his business and the incredible people he has on his team…

The next time you find yourself in downtown DC around lunchtime look out for one of Mike’s trucks!

Together 10 years! // Glenview Mansion Wedding

Kristen & Jason chose Glenview Mansion in Rockville, MD for their wedding. They gathered with family and close friends on a warm Sunday in late September.  This pair of world travelers met in Egypt 10 years prior, and after a decade of adventures they have spent the last few years in DC.

The day was full of love, joy, and lots of laughter, endless jokes and lots of puns! I don’t think there was a moment when Kristen didn’t have the biggest smile on her face.

Here’s a recap of the day…

GreatFalls Wedding //Nod to GoT + a Wine Tasting!

Hello Hello! The Fall 2016 wedding season is in full swing, and while I’ve been finding myself behind the camera most days I had to take a break and share this with you!

In mid-September I had the honor to document M&R ‘s wedding day.  You might remember them from a post a few months back, they are a totally adventurous couple, their engagement session was at Great Falls on the Billy Goat Trail! – Talk about fearless!  So, it was no surprise to me when they agreed to do a little hiking on their wedding day all dressed up.  They got hitched over at Rockwood Manor near Great Falls, with an outdoor ceremony.  Both GoT fans and Wine lovers they included both aspects into their ceremony, which was officiated by her mother!

Here are some highlights…

Summer is over!

As we embark on the last true weekend of Summer I thought it would be appropriate to share some highlights from the coolest staff picnic I’ve ever seen! Summer is over! Let’s relive that July heat wave, here are some moments from the staff Picnic at George Washington’s Mount Vernon.  Sweets and treats provided by Rebel’s Kitchen , countless delicious food trucks, and a bouncy house obstacle course.  What fun!

Many of us will head out to a BBQ or Picnic this weekend, what’s your favorite way to end Summer?

NOVA Wedding // A Beautiful Blended Family

The Summer has flown by and now the days are getting shorter, I’m not sure where the time has gone.  I’ve been dying to share this June Wedding!   I was trying to think of a good name for this wedding.  The Ceremony was in Alexandria, Portraits in Old Town, and the Reception in Woodbridge at Old Hickory   So, NOVA Wedding made the most sense! This couple entered their marriage each with a young son.  Just a year apart in age these boys, already friends are now instant brothers! The day was as much about their mom and dad as it was about them.  It was really beautiful to see the boys included in the wedding day in such a special way. The older of the two boys walked his Mom down the isle and gave a toast at the reception. The younger was his Dad’s Best Man! This is a perfect example of a modern blended family! Here is a recap of the day…

Wedding Day Recap // S&J

I hope everyone had a fabulous 4th of July! I’m back at it here in the office and today I am excited to share this lovely wedding day recap from S&J’s wedding. My amazing wing-woman Victoria Ruan and I had a blast capturing this wedding.  It was held at 2941 Restaurant in Falls Church, VA.  The day started out sunny and bright with a light breeze.  We were able to get thru portraits until we had to move the party indoors.  But, you know what? It was great because S&J had a great rain plan.  Their day was flawless and we even got to admire an early summer rain from the floor to ceiling windows overlooking the waterfalls.

Shannon and Jonathan’s Wedding

DC area natives, S&J recently moved back into the area from Australia! Not only were they surrounded by family and childhood friends but I was really impressed that many of their Australian friends made the journey to celebrate with them!

What’s the furthest you’ve traveled to attend a wedding?
